“Ramdas had become frustrated with Zoom and told his parents that he wanted a real tutor in person”
We live in India and all our schools were closed by the pandemic. Our son, Ramdas, now aged 14, was preparing for his entrance exam for Eton on Zoom. He got used to this, but after the pandemic was over we decided to get a full-time tutor for him from Tutors from England. Ramdas had become frustrated with Zoom and said to us that he wanted a real tutor to teach him in person – he wanted to be "unplugged", get out of his isolation and loneliness, and have some fun too.
Adrian from Tutors from England stayed with us in Bombay for three months.
The difference in Ramdas was dramatic: Adrian was an excellent tutor, but also a very motivating and inspirational teacher; the effect on Ramdas from person-to-person tutoring was enormous – he became much more focused on his studies and enjoyed them much more than before, with the result that he easily passed his entrance exams and interview for Eton and is now doing very well there. In addition to teaching him, Adrian also helped him to prepare for his interview, suggesting questions that they might ask him and what his answers should be.
Adrian taught Ramdas about English etiquette and manners and what he should expect when he got to Eton, so that Ramdas felt much more at home when he got to Eton than he would have done otherwise; he understood the quirks and habits of English school life a lot better. This made an enormous difference to Ramdas, with the result that he did not get teased or bullied when he arrived at Eton.
We are so grateful to Tutors for England for making Ramdas’s arrival at Eton so very different to what it would have been if he had not had a tutor. Thank you, Tutors from England! ML
