“He realized his aggression came from films he watched and soon lost that side of his nature”
Imran had apparently watched too many violent and distressing films on social media during COVID, which had made him aggressive and violent towards fellow schoolmates, to such an extent that the school had complained to his parents and his schoolwork had suffered.
His parents had contacted Tutors from England and I was sent out to Pakistan as Imran’s tutor.
Although he was hostile to me at first, I soon found him a sensitive and impressionable individual who had been influenced by watching too many violent films on social media. He soon warmed to me and we started to get on very well. I joined him on his favourite sports and games and he came to see me as a sort of role model. By being gentil and encouraging with him during moments where he felt vulnerable, he began to develop his empathy and compassion. He came to realize that he had become aggressive because of the films that he had been watching and he soon lost that side of his nature.
In fact he turned out to be a very kind, empathetic boy and he studied well when I tutored him. I came to realize how impressionable he was and by the time I left Pakistan he had become a kind, gentle boy, but full of confidence with a strong character – not someone to be easily influenced by violence on social media.
