Most of our international tutors are graduates of Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College or similar universities or have places at those universities and are waiting to go up. They are all experienced tutors who have travelled all over the world tutoring children exposing them to the different foods, music, and traditions that they will find in England.
One of our private tutors is the ideal person to solve any difficulties for you: he is not a member of the family, yet the pupil gets the motivation and attention that can only be achieved by one-on-one tuition full-time. Read more about our global experiences in our Tutor Talks articles.
Our tutors will live with you as a member of your family to prepare your child for studies in England.
Our live-in tutors all come from British families, love to travel and experience the world. They will fit easily into your family.
Many of our residential tutors become lifelong friends of the families. The skills and guidance of a tutor will build your child's future.
Where the child is very intelligent, but is having trouble preparing for UK college exams alone.
Where the child is very keen, but was struggling to understand his studies and English culture. He needs more familiarity with British lifestyle.
Where the child needed motivation to succeed and full-time tutoring was the key to learning and confidence
Where the child is troublesome, but clever and needed the presence of a mentor to encourage his enthusiasm
A strong foundation in the core subjects such as English, Maths, Science and Social Studies will be essential for success in UK schools. Guidance is necessary on the application process for UK schools. Prepare your child with a British tutor for the interviews and entrance exams that may be required.
Success preparing a child for future studies and life in prestigious UK schools and universities is a long-term process that requires patience, dedication and hard work. We strongly feel that online learning and increased screen time is not the answer. Having a full-time residential tutor at home can provide a more comfortable and familiar environment for the child, which can help to reduce stress and anxiety. Zoom achieves none of this, and can lead to frustration for the entire family.
We have come up against almost every problem and in all cases our tutors have managed to motivate and inspire the pupil and enabled him to pass his GCSE, A level, IB exams and Oxford & Cambridge University Admissions. A role model improved the pupil's cultural understanding so that he does not have any further difficulty with studies or life abroad.
We will discuss with you at length exactly what you need from a tutor and find one that we feel meets your needs. While the tutor is living in your family, you may discuss with us at any time any questions that may arise and the tutor will have continuous guidance from us. We are committed to making your experience with an international tutor a success.

An English admiral, Commander-in-Chief of NATO naval forces in Northern Europe, wanted a tutor for six months to help his thirteen year-old son get into Eton. The boy was at an English-speaking school in Oslo. He tutored him out of school hours during the term and full-time during the holidays. Our tutor lived with the the admiral and his family for six months, going on holiday with the family when they went salmon fishing in Northern Norway and generally joining in the family’s activities – dinner parties, tennis parties, tea parties, dances and at the same time teaching and motivating the eleven year-old pupil. He also helped the boy improve his tennis and swimming. So successful was he that the pupil got a scholarship to Eton and the family has remained personal friends with the tutor to this day with him often going to stay with them.
The managing director of the subsidiary in Germany of a large English company wanted a tutor for his two sons, aged 14 and 16, who were at Eton; they were both struggling with their maths. Again the tutor lived with the families and has remained friends ever since, often staying with the family.

Ramdas hated Zoom. In India since the pandemic, much of home tutoring is done online and can be frustrating for the whole family. Tutors from England sent out Adrian who was an excellent tutor, but also a very motivating and inspirational teacher. The effect on Ramdas from person-to-person full-time tutoring was enormous – he became much more focused on his studies and enjoyed them far more than before, with the result that he easily passed his entrance exams and interview for Eton and is now doing very well there.
A plantation owner in Vietnam wanted a tutor for his 18-year-old daughter who had a place at Oxford, but needed to get A*s in French and Spanish in A levels to secure her place. The owner of a company in Shanghai needed a tutor to help his son, who was at a day school, to pass his exams to get into Oxford. A famous violinist living in Gstaad in Switzerland wanted a tutor to help his son get into Le Rosey. We sent a tutor to stay with the family and help the son. The tutor ended up staying for over a year as she helped the son so much, not only with his school work ; but also improved his skiing and his tennis. The tutor became great friends with the family and has been to stay with them many times since.
A German industrialist needed a tutor to help his 17-year-old son improve his English and knowledge of English literature before attempting his entrance exams for Cambridge.
